My Suzuki Bandit streetfighter got a nail in the front tire so while she’s down I decided to totally tear into the front end again. I did quite a bit of work to the rear of the bike last year- modified the subframe, German tail, custom seat, panels, tail light, exhaust, etc. etc. etc. Buttttt I hated the headlight. Time for a change. I love the alien type streetfighter headlight so I picked one up from Ebay. It definitely looked cool, but don’t be speeding around too much at night with this thing. With the highbeam on it’s about the same as an H4 lowbeam. You can probably swap out headlight bulbs if you want, but I didn’t find it necessary.
The goal is to remove the god-awful headlight the previous owner had fabbed up and to make the front sleek again. The bike has some sort of weird HID setup with dual headlights and an angel eye. In other words there are literally wires everywhere.
I will be changing out the speedo and tach setup to a digital setup. This will require the Bandit wiring diagram and quite a bit of trial and error. It’s from China and they apparently don’t like to send you directions. The speedo is pretty high quality for what I paid for it and I’ll try to remember to get some kind of wiring diagram out on the internet for people to check out if they decide to use this kind of setup.
I do really like the analog gauges so I’m saving them for another project (or because I’m a hoarder). Also I will be taking out the entire stock ignition/key setup and replacing it with a switch. This will be my first time completely rewiring the entire bike. Stay tuned.
